Santa Barbara’s award-winning, world-recognized salon of 35+ years, Walter Claudio Salon opened on State Street in 1991 and grew into a thriving 20+ stylist team, serving both celebrity and local clients with unparalleled artistry. Over decades of travel—from New York and Paris to Milan, Tokyo, and beyond—Walter immersed himself in the craft and culture of salons worldwide, discovering innovative ways to approach hair, color, and salon design.
His vision led to groundbreaking creations, including the HeadMapping Color System™, ColorMix Collection, and ColorBiz™ software, transforming how salons operate while maintaining the highest artistic standards. A dedicated educator for Aveda and other leading brands, Walter’s expertise draws stylists from around the globe to study his methods.
After decades of leading a bustling salon, Walter’s heart has always been drawn to the intimacy of one-on-one artistry. Today, that vision comes alive in Walter Claudio Studio, a boutique loft space where every detail is designed for a personal, elevated experience. A bit about Walter
Walter Claudio is the founder and creative director of Walter Claudio Studio. Born in Buenos Aires and raised between California and Italy, Walter grew up surrounded by cultures that shaped his love for style, craftsmanship, and lifelong curiosity about beauty.
Fluent in three languages, Walter has traveled the world as a stylist, educator, and consultant—but his favorite place is still behind the chair, where great hair, great conversation, and the occasional life advice happen all at once.
Now focused on an intimate studio experience, Walter works alongside his longtime collaborators, delivering personalized artistry and connection to every client.
Happily married to his wife Angela and the proud father of two, Claudio and Analiza, Walter enjoys cooking, gardening, following international soccer, and riding his Ducati—often dreaming up his next adventure.
As Walter often says, “Without education, the doors to enlightenment are closed… but a great haircut doesn’t hurt either.”
